The Mario Movie is scheduled to be in theatres by 2022. Nintendo president has said work on the movie is moving along at a reasonable pace and plans to be in theatres on time. The film is an attempt by Nintendo to offer a new form of entertainment with its characters. The Mario games are some of the most iconic in gaming history so Nintendo hopes it would have a similar effect in the movie industry.
The studio in charge of the upcoming movie, Illumination, is almost unhindered by the global pandemic. The American animation company is already working remotely and already has ample preparations with or without the worldwide threat. One source close to the studio even described that the past two months were extremely productive – a statement that is very welcoming.
Mario's creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, is even involved in the movie as a co-producer, along with the Illumination CEO, Chris Meledandri. Perhaps it is safe to say that even the pandemic is no match for our little plumber hero. If you can't wait for the official movie to be released, check out this cool fan-made Super Mario Bros.
